The Lady in White Concepts

It was first back in the fall of 2005 that I thought about doing a classic ghost story film. I remember we shot that film out on a deserted road in Cloverdale with Andrew Atkinson, Tim Reyes, and Natalie Konowalchuk. We titled the film “RED CARNATIONS”, and although not completed, the basic storyline was similar to “The Lady in White”. I know I have the film somewhere, so if I can find it, I’ll upload it. I remember it always gave Tim a scare, which I enjoyed.

I’ve always wanted to do a classic ghost story, there was just something so nostalgic about it, which made it creepy. I wanted to do a story like the old radio play mysteries from the 1940s, or something like an episode of the classic “Twilight Zone” series with Rod Sterling.

Katey Atkinson had come back from South Korea in December, and missed the production of “MEMORIES”, but made it to the screening. I approached her with the idea of a classic ghost story and we had many brainstorming sessions, and listened to a couple radio plays. We use to go driving at night, and scare Tim, asking him what he would do if he saw a lady in white, standing on the side of the road. In fact, although this image of “That Lady in White” was originally made to creep Tim out, it was one of those images that also sent chills down my spine. One night, Katey and I were discussing what the main plot of our story would be, when it all fell into place, the star of our film would be the distressed bride, standing on the side of the road in the rain.
